A Room of One's Own, Virginia Woolf, 1932 [Rare Canadian First Edition]

£270.00

The most elusive of the A Room of One's Own first editions, printed in the United States from sheets supplied by Harcourt Brace in an unknown but very small edition, estimated at approximately 250 copies. This Rare Canadian first edition was issued in 1932, 3 years after the first British edition published by Hogarth Press. A Room of One's Own is Woolf's extended essay arguing that women need financial independence and personal space to write and create freely, blending literary criticism, history, and feminist theory.

Fair Condition. Blue cloth with faded lettering to spine. Cracking to both hinges, causing boards to be slightly shaky. Notable pencil markings to front end paper. Binding is firm and pages are lightly tanned. Boards have moderate edge-wear with some bumping to corners and fraying. Stain to spine tail and top edge of front board.
