Defiance
Savitri Devi
1950
A.K. Mukerji
First Edition
p.579
Description:
First edition of Savitri Devi’s Defiance, published in Calcutta by A.K. Mukherji, her husband, in 1950. A memoir of her arrest, trial and imprisonment in occupied Germany, it describes her mission of 1948-49 to distribute National Socialist propaganda to the German population and her sentence of three years, of which she served eight months in Werl prison in Westphalia before her early release and expulsion. She portrays her fellow prisoners, many of them convicted Nazi war criminals, as admirable, and gives accounts of their lives under the Third Reich. It was published here privately in a small edition. Devi herself is now known for her work on esoteric-Hitlerlism, a bizarre attempt to attached eastern religion to Nazism.
Condition:
Good Condition. Grey paper covered with black lettering to upper cover. Binding is firm. Pages are lightly foxed with some tanning to edges. Covers are tanned to spine and edges. Minor creasing to edges.
