Originally planned as a farewell gift when Williams left Oxford for London, the project became a posthumous tribute following his unexpected death in May 1945, what's left is a collection of essays written by Charles William's inner-circle known as the Inklings. Contributions include the first appearance of J.R.R. Tolkien's essays 'On Fairy-Stories', the preface and 'On Stories' written by C.S. Lewis. And other essays written by Dorothy Sayers, A.O. Barfield, Gervase Mathew and C.S. Lewis' brother, W.H. Lewis. Very rare collection and one that does not appear on the market often.
Condition:
Very Good Condition. Blue cloth with gilt titles to spine. Small, neat inscription to front end paper. Binding is firm and contents are clean. With rare Photographic frontispiece of Charles Williams. Boards have light wear with some slight bumping to corners. Light fading to gilt lettering. Small stain to rear board. Overall Very Good.
