The story follows Peter Simple, a young, naive midshipman often described as the simplest boy in the service who begins his naval career painfully inexperienced and exploited by others. Over time, through battles, storms, mutinies, and political intrigue, he develops into a capable and courageous officer. This edition was published in 1836, 2 years after the first edition. 

Good Condition. Quarter bound in blue cloth with titles to spine. Binding is firm. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed. Rough-cut fore-edges. Boards have moderate wear with some bumping to corners and general marking. Spines are lightly marked with tanning.
