Some Account of London
[Thomas Pennant]
1793
Robert Faulder
Third Edition
4to
Description:
Containing 14 plates, (3 being fold up panoramas). Pennant's popular antiquary survey blending historical anecdote, architectural description and social observation of the capital. The work was first published in 1790 with this being the third printing. Pennant was welsh and brought an outsider's perspective to London, but he travelled there often enough to write from firsthand knowledge and with his characteristic dry wit. Lovely pull out illustrations of the great fire of London.
Condition:
Good Condition. Full calf with lettering to spine. Contents are clean. 14 plates 3 of which are pullouts, 1st of which has a little tearing. Binding is firm. Minor spotting. Front board is slightly fragile with minor fraying to edge. Original calf has bumps to edges with some peeling to leather. Marking to boards. Loss to spine head and slight loss to lettering plate.
