Description:
The Weiser first edition with Crowley’s commentary, thus, of Aleister Crowley’s The Book of Lies, Which is also Falsely Called Breaks. One of Crowley’s best-known and most puzzling works, it first appeared in a limited edition in London in 1913. Consists of short chapters, each a single page, ranging from poems and instructions to ritual, paradox and cryptogram, with titles such as “The Sabbath of the Goat”, “The Oyster”, “Peaches”, “The Battle of the Ants” and “Skidoo!”. The meaning of each chapter is bound up with the Qabalistic significance of its number, and Crowley wrote a commentary on each chapter around 1921 to assist the reader, which this edition prints with the text.
Condition:
Good Condition. Pictorial jacket over black cloth. Binding is firm. Pages are mostly clean with some light marking to rear pastedown and fore-edge. Boards are clean. Jacket is mostly good with some loss to spine head and minor loss to corners and spine tail. Light marking to inside of jacket.
