Filled with 23 dramatic illustrated plates. William Falconer (1732–1769) was a Scottish poet and sailor whose firsthand experiences at sea informed his vivid writing. Robert Dodd (1748–1815) was a renowned English marine painter and engraver celebrated for his accurate and dramatic depictions of naval battles and shipwrecks. Pull out map as frontispiece.
Condition:
Good Condition. Half bound in dark leather with cloth covered boards. Binding is firm and Contents are toned with some foxing. Leaf 151 & 152 is inlaid as with title page. Previous owner neat gift inscription to front end paper dated 1839. Boards have rubbing to edges and light peeling to spine ends.
